From November 10 - 11, 2023, leaders and lecturers of the Faculty of Pharmacy, LHU attended the 7th National Vietnam Medical Education Conference entitled "Assessment in competency-based medical education: Challenges - Solutions" taking place in Sheraton Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City. The Conference was co-organized by Vietnam Association for Medical Education (VAME) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son and more than 600 delegates from universities, colleges, research institutes, Departments of Health, and hospitals nationwide and international organizations attended the Conference.

Speaking at the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Deputy Minister of Health emphasized that assessment in competency-based medical education needs to be focused. This sector needs to constantly innovate and update new knowledge, technologies and techniques. This Conference is an opportunity for medical training facilities nationwide to exchange and discuss to agree on innovation in training programs to improve the training quality meeting the increasing outcome standards of the society.
According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, suggestions and comments discussed in the 7th National Vietnam Medical Education Conference will help the Ministry complete and build training program standards in health sciences.
Prof. Dr. Le Quang Cuong, Chairman of VAME said that the Conference theme reflects an important content of current interest: evaluation in medical education: How to confirm that a student upon graduation has mastered necessary competencies for professional activities, being able to independently handle basic and common situations and having lifelong learning skills.
Learning knowledge and experience from the Conference, LHU's Faculty of Pharmacy will continue to review its training program, consider improving teaching - learning and assessment methods to meet competency standards for pharmacists. This Conference is especially meaningful in the context of the national examination and assessment of practice capacity prescribed by the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, which will be implemented in 2027.
