Student Trial 2026: Top 3 Outstanding Teams Emerge After Cracking the “Million-Dollar” Case

Outstanding Teams Advance to the Courtroom Advocacy Round – Mock Trial Competition

The Heat of Real-World Negotiation Intensifies

On the afternoon of April 11, the atmosphere at the Moot Court Room G202 became more intense than ever with the participation of the six most outstanding teams from Round 1: Mediation Practice, within the framework of the “Student Trial 2026” competition.

At this stage, teams were randomly paired into three opposing matches, directly assuming the roles of Plaintiff and Defendant to resolve a case file on “Disputes over Loan Agreements and Joint Liability of Spouses.” This highly complex scenario required students to skillfully handle intricate issues such as fund transfers through third parties and unusual debt offset claims in practice.

Under the coordination of the Mediator, both sides made great efforts to present strong arguments and evidence to best protect the interests of the parties they represented.

Overview of the Mediation Practice Round.

    Valuable Experiences from Intense Negotiations

Through the Mediation Round, contestants gained invaluable practical lessons that textbooks alone cannot fully convey. Students not only refined their legal reasoning while working on real-case scenarios but also learned how to balance rigid legal regulations with the practical interests of the parties involved.

This round helped students develop the ability to identify risks, propose contingency plans, and make timely concessions to achieve optimal agreements. In addition, their persuasion skills, emotional control under pressure, and ability to understand opponents’ psychology were impressively demonstrated.

The valuable feedback from the Jury will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for students to overcome shortcomings and further develop their professional competence for the journey ahead.

Through the round, students learned how to build a statement of claim (Plaintiff)…
…as well as how to prepare a written defense (Defendant).

Honoring the Top 3 Teams Advancing to the Final Round

After intense and strategic matches, the Jury selected the three most deserving teams to advance to the final stage. Their dedication, legal knowledge, and negotiation skills were rewarded with well-deserved results.
