At Lac Hong University, our curriculum is built around the belief that education must be ethical, humanistic, and transformative, preparing learners not only for careers but for meaningful, socially responsible lives. We place students at the heart of everything we do, aiming to cultivate graduates who can thrive as global citizens, professionals, and change-makers.
1. Education about the SDGs
Students at LHU engage in explicit learning about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially:
SDG 4 – Quality Education: Through teacher education programs and e-learning initiatives that expand access to knowledge.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Via research collaborations and community engagement with both local industries and international partners.
SDGs focus (e.g. SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 15 – Life on Land): By incorporating sustainability modules that encourage student-led health initiatives, peer counselling, and workshops on topics like nutrition, stress management, and physical activity.
Our faculty are encouraged to contextualize the SDGs within Vietnam’s specific development challenges, fostering relevance and application in local contexts.
2. Education for Sustainable Development (SDG 4)
LHU is deeply aligned with SDG 4.7, ensuring that learners acquire knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development through:
Curriculum innovation: Programs integrate ethical leadership, humanism, and integrity—our educational philosophy—to foster global citizenship, intercultural understanding, and inclusive values.
Interdisciplinary pedagogy: Courses combine technology, management, environmental awareness, and community service, with an emphasis on critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and lifelong learning.
Access and inclusivity: The university offers scholarships and support services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, contributing to equity and access in higher education.
We believe education must go beyond technical training—it should shape the character, social responsibility, and intellectual independence of the learner.
3. Education that Contributes to the SDGs
LHU’s applied learning and community-based research contribute directly to sustainable development:
Community projects address real-life challenges in Dong Nai Province, like energy efficiency
Student innovation: Our innovation, competition and start-up Center
Capacity building for educators: LHU trains teachers to promote innovative, diversity, and inclusion in Vietnamese classrooms—addressing SDG 4
This hands-on, impact-driven education ensures that students are not just learning about sustainability, but actively working to implement it.
4. Institutional Commitment to SDGs
Our curriculum strategy aligns with LHU’s mission of “serving the community and supporting national industrialization and modernization.” It reflects:
A vision to become a top application-oriented university in Vietnam by 2030.
Strategic focus on SDGs by integrating related topics into research, coursework, and public engagement.
Emphasis on partnerships (SDG 17) with local government, industry, and international institutions to deliver societal value through education.
