Robocon 2013 – Very fierce battles

During the three days (from April, 5 to 7), the regional qualifying round of Robocon Vietnam 2013 was kicked off at Rach Mieu Sports House - Hoa Phuong street, Phu Nhuan district, HCM City.

According to Thanhnien Newspaper, participating in Robocon Vietnam 2013 was 180 teams from universities and colleges nationwide. Particularly, the southern region  had 48 teams from 12 universities and colleges. The theme of Robocon 2013 is “The Green Planet” conveying a message of building a green Earth, protecting the nature and environment, breeding ground for life. Each team has 4 members (one instructors and 3 students) who will be allowed to use maximum two robots including one automatic and one manual.

During each 3 - minute game, the manual machine are not allowed to ride in the Earth Zone, but operates around with the duty of placing “leaves” at vacant positions in the Southern Hemisphere, and then continues to load “leaves” onto the automatic robot. The auto robot next takes leaves to the Northern Hemisphere, and then loads a bud for the manual machine in order to shoot it into the Moon.  The team with the first bud standing on the Moon will win “The Green Planet”.

This year Lac Hong University has 8 participating teams including LH –NVN – EAGLE; LH- NVNS; LH – LEGEND; LH- ĐCN; LH – SEE; LH – ET#; LH- ET*; LH- TNT fewer than 2012 seven teams. However, LHU is still a hot name since it successively has the most teams in the region, leaving good impressions and scoring many spectacular victories. 

It can be seen, the regional qualifying round of Robocon 2013 took place with several fierce battles and life-and-death situations. Specifically, LHU teams encountered University of Technology teams, leaving oppressive spaces and beat missing hearts of fans.

Looking back triumphs of LHU teams during the three days shows new and stable strategies. These helped 6 among 8 teams earn the tickets to the final round of Robocon Vietnam 2013. 

Four other representatives include 3 teams from HCM City University of Technology and 1 team from Tran Dai Nghia University. Ending 102 matches, LH – LEGEND currently holds the record for absolute victories with 76 seconds. According to expert opinion, it is considered as a redoubtable opponent by its speed and keenness in strategies. 

The opening competition took place favorably between LH – NVN - EAGLE and SPK – PALADIN  from Ho Chi Minh city University of Technical Education. LH – NVN - EAGLE had a convincing performance when it finished its duty and won victory with 90 points.

On April 5, LHU’s two teams LH –NVN – EAGLE and LH- NVNS competed in the table 1 and 3. Both of them won 9 points, ranking the first place of the tables.

Continuing in the morning of April 6, LHU teams took first place of tables 7, 8 and 11 (including LH – LEGEND;  LH – ĐCN and LH – TNT) and second position of tables 7, 10 and 12 (including LH – SEE; LH – ET# and LH – ET*).

Ending the first round, Robocon Lac Hong had 8 teams advancing to the second round. Here, LHU took 5 first places and 3 second places. Other tickets belonged to 3 teams from University of Technology, 1 from University of Technical Education, 4 teams from Ho Chi Minh city Industry and Trade College, 2 from Tra Vinh University, 1 from Tran Dai Nghia and 1 from Dong An Polytechnic.

In the next day, April 7, 20 teams entered the second round, divided into 5 tables. Over 30 drastic matches, 6 teams of LHU took 5 first places of tables 1, 3, 4 and 5 and 2 second positions. Unfortunately, 2 teams LH – ET# and  LH -  ĐCN had to stop the game.

As a result, 6 among 8 teams of LHU will enter the final round of Robocon Vietnam 2013. They are LH- LEGEND; LH – NVNT; LH – TNT, LH – SEE, LH- ET* and LH- EAGLE .

Some more days, 32 excellent teams of the three regions, the North, the South and the Central will compete in the National Robocon Vietnam 2013 which will take place from May 6 to 12 at Tien Son Sports Palace in Da Nang city. From there, the two best teams will represent Vietnam in the 12th ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest to be held in Da Nang city, Vietnam in August. The final result is unknown, but thousands of fans of LHU are showing their confidence that Robocon Lac Hong will make a special exploit.
