LHU lecturer participated in 2023 FAIR Conference

In order to contribute to promoting basic and applied research on Information Technology in Vietnam, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology cooperated with the University of Science and Technology - the University of Danang, scientific agencies, scientists from research institutes and universities to organize the 16th National Scientific Conference on Fundamental and Applied Information Technology (FAIR).

The conference with the main theme "Data Science in Digital Transformation" especially focuses on digital transformation solutions to build smart cities.

The conference was held from September 28-29, 2023 with 6 Subcommittees including Artificial Intelligence and Applications; Data science; Information Systems; Image Processing and Computer Vision; Natural Language Processing; Network and Computer Engineering with 96 papers from researchers and scientists selected from 169 entries (accounting for 57%).

Representing LHU and a group of authors (including Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Dang Toan, PhD student Tran Van Thanh, Dr. Huynh Tuan Tu and Eng. Nguyen Trong Truyen), Mr. Tran Van Thanh attended and presented the paper "A method for screening autistic children based on facial characteristics" at the 4th Subcommittee - Image Processing and Computer Vision.

The paper introduces a method for early screening of autistic children based on facial feature extraction with new contributions to science such as supplementing the Vietnamese dataset to limit regional characteristics, introducing data enhancement methods to ensure facial features, noise processing methods such as dropout, early stopping,... combined with enhanced training of feature extraction networks to improve autism screening.
