LHU students participated in Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2023

The Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2023, held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, brought together 75 teams from 13 countries, officially concluded on July 9, 2023. The teams from Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia displayed the best energy efficiency in their Prototype vehicle category. In the Urban Concept vehicle category, teams from Singapore and Indonesia were also qualified for the global World Championship finale which will be held in India in October, 2023. 

Shell Eco-marathon 2023 took place in Indonesia from July 4 - 9, attracting 75 teams from 13 countries and territories across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East

Mr. Norman Koch - Global General Manager of Shell Eco-marathon said "It is impressive to see the youth's skills in innovation and energy-efficiency. Despite facing many challenges during the competition, they persevered and achieved exceptional results in designing fuel-efficient vehicles."

Representing LHU, the LH-EST team consisted of 16 members from the Automotive Engineering Technology, Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics. With their efforts, the team members passed the Technical Inspection round, was one of 15 teams competing at the Mandalika International Circuit in the Urban Concept – Battery Electric category and ranked 7th on the leaderboard.

Through the competition, students of Automotive Engineering Technology had opportunities to enhance creativity, teamwork skills as well as raise the awareness of environmental protection for young people. Thereby, they gained a lot of experience, knowledge and skills in the field of sustainable energy and transportation to improve their understanding of professional knowledge as well as design methods and practical applications. They also had chances to exchange with teams across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
