LHU to work on BUILD-IT Project

In the morning of February 16, Office of BUILD-IT Vietnam had a working session with LHU Management Board after a half year of implementing BUILD-IT Project at LHU. This is a project aiming at enhancing undergraduate educational competence, carried out by the government of United States of America and Arizona State University (ASU). Here, the two sides discussed and assessed the progress of BUILD-IT Project implementation.

LHU leaders exchanged information with Office of BUILD-IT Vietnam.

Receiving the delegation were Vice Rector Lam Thanh Hien, Vice Rector Nguyen Van Nam, representatives of Mechatronics - Electronics Faculty, Academic Affairs Dept., Scientific Research Dept., International Relations Dept. and relevant staff. The Office of BUILD-IT Vietnam included Dr. Kathy Wigal - Director of BUILD-IT Project and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong - National Director of International Relations and Open Education Department of Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

Director of BUILD-IT Project - Dr. Kathy Wigal showed indexes to assess the progress set by the US government.

Currently, there are 11 universities in Vietnam honored to join in this Project, including LHU. The US government has provided KPI indexes to evaluate levels of implementation of member universities.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Coordinator of BUILD-IT Project at LHU presented the rate of progress the University has done.

Also at the working session, BUILD-IT Office has made plans and working programs for the next six months so that LHU can follow and select suitable program to register to implement. The Project provides specific activities for universities, whereby encouraging them to innovate and create to make their programs and policies become better.

Established in 2010, “BUILD – IT” is a project of US Government in cooperation with Intel and ASU, aiming at changing policies of universities from management to others. Up to now, the project has experienced two stages and it currently is at the third one (2015 - 2020). Late 2015, LHU officially joined in this project. After a half year of planning, LHU officially deployed the Project in September, 2016.
