FPT awarded driverless car to LHU to join in Digital Race finale

The qualifying rounds of 2016-2017 Digital Race organized by FPT Corporation attracted the participation of 71 teams from 16 universities nationwide. LHU excellently became one of the eight best teams to attend the final round which will be held in April.

FPT awarded driverless car to LHU

To support and facilitate teams before driverless car challenge, FPT awarded eight model cars to eight teams entering the final round.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Linh - ADAS Research Team introduced driverless car awarded to LHU.

In the afternoon of February 9, representative of FPT Corporation - Ms. Tran Thi Thu Trang - Communications Board and Mr. Nguyen Duc Linh - ADAS Research Team came to LHU to award driverless car worth nearly USD 1,000 and answered all questions around the competition.

Receiving the delegation were Vice Rector Lam Thanh Hien, Dean of Information Technology Faculty Tran Van Lang and Director of Information and Resources Center Huynh Cao Tuan.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Trang said "The competition "2016-2017 Digital race" themed Driverless officially launched by FPT on November 2, 2016 aims to help Vietnamese students build a solid foundation to grasp opportunities and success in digital revolution happening all over the world. FPT also expects to find out potential students who can join in FPT in pioneering in the digital revolution."

Beside LHU, the final round will saw the competition of teams from VNU University of Engineering and Technology, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, FPT University, VNU-HCM University of Information Technology, Military Technical Academy and HCM City University of Technology.

Members of LHU team including Pham Trung Phi, Lai Xuan Thoi, Cao Thai Phong and Tran Trung Nguyen from class 14SE111 - Faculty of Information Technology.

Digital Race took place from November, 2016 to April, 2017. This is a driverless car controlling programming competition. The total value of prizes is up to VND 700 million including one First worth VND 450 million (including a seven-day trip in America for members and three laptops), one Second worth VND 30 million, two Third each worth VND 20 million, eight prizes each worth VND 10 million for best teams of the qualifying round. The University with teams winning First prize will also receive VND 50 million in cash.
