LHU students actively participated in Waste Recycling Festival 2016

Recently, LHU's students of Chemical and Environment Engineering Faculty gathered at Waste Recycling Festival 2016 held by Dong Nai Department of Natural Resources and Environment in cooperation with relevant departments and agencies. With the theme "Recycling - Saving and Environmental Protection", the Festival took place at Dong Nai provincial Sports Center, attracting the participation of hundreds of local students and pupils.

Students of Chemical and Environment Engineering Faculty performed their recycled products made from nylon bags and wastepaper.

At the Festival, Youth Union - Student Association of LHU's Chemical and Environment Engineering Faculty had introduced two recycled fashion collections and products under the theme: "Beauty of Revival" and "Colors of Life". With the two topics, Faculty of Chemical and Environment Engineering was highly appreciated by the Organization Board for their communication and propagandic idea "recycle, save and protect the environment".

In addition, at the event, there were various activities such as: "Old to you, new to me" (Exchanging used items), "3T Angle" (Guiding how to make useful products from waste materials), Exhibition displaying products of "New vitality from waste" contest for students and pupils. For this activity, LHU students from class 13MT - Environment Engineering major brought their hand-recycled products such as phone bags recycled from animal feed bags; briefcases made from waste bags; hair-grips; bracelets created from nylon bags; hats cut from carton papers; and some personal items recycled from cans of beer, ...

This year's Festival aims to raise the community's awareness of collection and waste separation at source, contributing to implementing National Strategy for managing solid waste to 2025, vision to 2050.

The Festival took place with many meaningful and educational activities such as: Exhibition of environmental friendly technologies, services and green products, Activities of environmental protection; Collection of hazardous waste at households; Collection of all kinds of waste that can be recycled like bottles, cans, milk cans, nylon bags ... These activities have contributed to strengthening the management of solid waste, especially collecting and transporting and dealing with hazardous waste, normal waste generated from households. Also, they promote the communication of waste recycling in order to increase the community's and business organizations’ attention to applying solutions of reducing, reusing and recycling waste in daily life as well as in production to reduce pollution and take full advantage of natural resources.
