LHU to promote 5S Methodology in Lab Management

All staff in charge of managing laboratory systems on Sept 6 gathered at room G202 - campus 5 to attend the conference "Deploying and applying 5S methodology in labs management and Developing Labs meeting ISO/IEC 17025: 2005" held by LHU's  Application and Scientific Research Center. Participants were instructed by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - ISO/IEC Staff of Perfetti Company and Le Phu Dong, MSc. - lecturer of Chemical and Environmental Engineering Faculty.

Mr. Phong provided participants with detailed information about 5S methodology.

The conference also received great attention of Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh - Dean of Mechatronics - Electronics - Head of Scientific Research Dept.; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Director of  Application and Scientific Research Center and representatives of Mechatronics - Electronics, Civil Engineering, Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Pharmacy Faculties.

5S consists of five phases or activities with names starting with the letter S "SORT”, “SET IN ORDER”, “STANDARDIZE”, “SUSTAINT” and “SELF-DISCIPLINE”. It is a Japanese methodology to organize and improve the efficiency of laboratories or workspace.

Mr. Dong instructed the participants how to construct and develop labs meeting ISO/IEC 17025: 2005.

Past June, Lac Hong University established the Center for Application and Scientific Research with invested capital of nearly VND 100 billion. This is the place gathering all laboratories, research and applied practice rooms supporting all training fields of the University (except Pharmacy major). It is also the sixth campus of LHU. In academic year 2014-2015, the center is officially operated serving research and teaching activities.

The conference also offered all staff and lecturers opportunity to enhance their experience in labs management, contributing to constructing and developing labs meeting requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.

The conference saw the great attendance of all staff in charge of managing labs.
