LHU to attend the training course “Quality Management in the Laboratory against ISO/IEC 17025:2005”

Recently, receiving the invitation from Quality Recognition Office directly under the Ministry of Science and Technology and the University Management Board's direction, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Faculty of Mechatronics - Electronics and Le Phu Dong, M.A - Faculty of Biotechnology and Environment attended the training course titled Quality Management in the Laboratory against ISO/IEC 17025:2005 in five days at Ho Chi Minh city with 5 modules namely ISO/IEC 17025:2005; Management System Documentation; Method Validation; Estimation of MU and Internal Audits in the Laboratory.

The course was attended by representatives of measurement and verification centers, observation, environment analyzing centers under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment; analytic laboratories, quality verification agencies,...

At the course, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son and Le Phu Dong, M.A has presented and shared their experience in managing laboratories to meet the ISO quality standard with partners and participants.

Ending the training course, LHU's representatives received high appreciation from experts of professional knowledge as well as lab managing experience. Hopefully, in the near future, LHU will become one of the first universities to have laboratories meeting ISO/IEC 17025:2005

Some features about ISO/IEC 17025

-ISO/IEC 17025 (newest version as ISO/IEC 17025:2005) is General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

-ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is quality managing standard specially applied for testing and calibration laboratories promulgated by International Organization for Standardization.

-ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard is used by laboratories in developing management system for quality, administrative and technical operations. Laboratories, customers, regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies may also use it in confirming or recognizing the competence of laboratories.

-ISO/IEC 17025:2005 helps laboratories to prove their full competence in management and technical organization, effective operation and in supplying testing results with high value and credibility.

Applying ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard will create good conditions for cooperation between laboratories and other organizations in order to support information and experience exchange in unifying standards and procedures.
