LHU partners with LJMU to launch AI-integrated Master’s program with British Council support

As knowledge is no longer confined by geographical boundaries, learners must adapt their approaches to learning. In response to this shift, at the end of March 2026, LHU launched an AI-integrated Master’s program in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU, United Kingdom), with funding support from the British Council through the Going Global Partnerships program. This initiative places technology at the center of postgraduate education and marks an important milestone in LHU’s strategy for internationalization and digital transformation.

A new step forward in digital education at LHU

The project, titled “AI-EMI Connect: Strengthening UK–Vietnam Collaboration Through English Medium Instruction and Generative AI”, has been designed specifically for LHU, a technology-oriented university located in one of Vietnam’s rapidly developing industrial and economic regions. On the UK side, the project is led by Dr. Rajab Ghandour from LJMU, who will work closely with LHU to develop an innovative academic environment.

Student-centered benefits

From a student perspective, one of the program’s key advantages is the ability to access international academic standards right at their home institution, reducing both financial costs and travel barriers. Without studying abroad, students can still learn in an international learning environment with the participation of international lecturers. The curriculum is jointly developed and delivered by both institutions, ensuring academic quality while broadening students’ global perspectives.

Associate Professor Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of LHU, emphasized “A key feature of the program is positioning AI as a core competency. Students will not only study theory but also apply AI in learning and research. This capability enables them to solve problems more effectively and gain a competitive advantage in the digital labor market. As many professions are being transformed by technology, the ability to use AI is becoming a decisive factor”.

In addition, a bilingual digital learning system will allow students to access knowledge more flexibly. Students can actively explore academic resources while strengthening their English proficiency. Learning will no longer depend solely on traditional classroom settings, providing an important foundation for lifelong learning.

The program also emphasizes equity and sustainability in education. Learners from diverse backgrounds will have the opportunity to access the program, with learning materials designed to suit a wide range of learners. This approach reflects a growing trend in modern education, where accessibility is valued as much as educational quality.

Strategic support from the British Council

To realize these innovation goals, the project has been awarded a grant of up to £25,000 from the British Council. The funding will be strategically allocated to essential components to ensure high-quality implementation, including support for personnel and expert costs, academic exchanges, and research publications.

Ultimately, the core value of the program lies not merely in the degree itself but in the competencies students develop. In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, choosing the right learning environment is crucial. The AI-integrated Master’s program at LHU reflects a clear direction, integrating education with technology, global collaboration, and practical needs, empowering learners to confidently step into the future.
