The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings is the only global ranking that measures the success of educational institutions in realizing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The THE issues annual Impact Rankings based on four key areas: research; stewardship; outreach; and teaching.
LHU listed in THE Impact Rankings for the first time
Research: This ranking focuses on universities' research impact and quality towards achieving SDGs including the number of published research works, the level of international cooperation in research projects, and the actual impact of these studies on society and the environment.
Stewardship: reflecting how the educational institution is managed and operated in relation to sustainable development principles including policies to protect the environment, sustainable use of resources, integrating the SDGs into the university's development strategy, and facilitating the university community's engagement in environmental and social protection activities.
Outreach: assessing the university's impact and response to the broader and local community through initiatives, projects, and activities including supporting socio-economic development in local communities, participating in charitable activities, and developing community education programs.
Teaching: assessing the quality of teaching and training programs related to sustainable development and reflecting whether courses and curricula integrate the values and knowledge of sustainable development, as well as how universities equip students with the skills needed to contribute to a sustainable future.
