2024 Chinese Speech Contest successfully held

On May 18, the 2024 Chinese Speech Contest organized by the Department of Chinese Language under the Faculty of Oriental Studies took place at Auditorium A301, Campus 1 with the competition of 10 contestants throughout the Department.

Attending the event, from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City were Mr. Xu Zhou - Deputy Consul General and Mr. Zeng Zi Wei - Consul. From the provincial leaders, there was Ms. Tran Thuy Tien - Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam - China Friendship Association of Dong Nai Province. From LHU, there were Dr. Lam Thanh Hien - Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh - Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyen Huu Nghi - Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies; Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh, M.A - Head of the Office of International Affairs; Phan The Anh, M.A - Program Head of the Chinese Language Department; Luong Van Huy, M.A - Department Head of Chinese Language; representatives of affiliated units, lecturers and students majoring in Chinese Language.

The Contest aims to create a useful playground for students of the Chinese Language Department to improve their communication skills; boost exchanges between students and businesses, enhance job opportunities. It also helps to promote cultural exchanges, and contribute to strengthening Vietnam - China solidarity, friendship and cooperation.

This year's Contest attracted the participation of more than 250 students at all levels. Through the preliminary rounds, the Organizers selected 10 best contestants to compete in the final round.

After careful consideration, the panel of judges selected the following contestants to give prizes:

First prize: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hau, class 22DT112 - Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha, class 23DT115 (Elementary level); Vo Thi My Hanh, class 22DT114 (Advanced level).

Second Prize: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai, class 22DT112 (Elementary level); Le Thi Yen Nhi, class 22DT112 (Advanced level).

Third Prize: Hoang Thi Linh and Ton Quynh Trang, class 23DT113 (Elementary level); Thi Ngoc Thao, class 21DT111 (Advanced level).

Consolation Prize: Nguyen Van Sang, class 22DT111 and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, clas 21DT115 (Advanced level).

On the occasion, the Department of Chinese Language commended and awarded certificates of merit to 10 interns for excellently completing the first semester's tasks in the 2023-2024 academic year. Also at the event, the Organizers gave prizes to students for winning the Historical Costume Contest on Tiktok platform.
