ABSTRACT. In this study, a finite element method (Plaxis 3D) was employed to analyze the behavior of piled raft foundation for a actual project in which the piled raft was opted for foundation design solution. The raft was in the medium dense sand layer of Ho Chi Minh City geological stratum. Different cases were investigated with respect to the variable stiffness of the connected plate between raft and diaphragm. The zero stiffness should refer to the analysis case without the influence of the diaphragm wall on the behavior of piled raft foundation. The results showed that the settlement of the raft and the axial force of piles were reduced by 12% and 18% respectively considering the influence of the diaphragm wall. Moreover the stiffness of connected plate did not significantly affect the settlement and moment of raft and axial force of pile at the raft center.
